"... that behind the cotton wool is hidden a pattern; that we - I mean all human beings - are connected with this; that the whole world is a work of art; that we are parts of the work of art. HAMLET OR A BEETHOVEN QUARTET IS THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS VAST MASS THAT WE CALL THE WORLD. BUT THERE IS NO SHAKESPEARE, THERE IS NO BEETHOVEN; CERTAINLY AND EMPHATICALLY THERE IS NO GOD; WE ARE THE WORDS; WE ARE THE MUSIC; WE ARE THE THING ITSELF. (From a "Sketch of the Past").
What a treat to see your blog here, Margaret, where your art is influenced by the great Virginia...Sorry to be so late getting here--LOL! I do admired this new work of yours...I like how you've cleverly handled the turbulence under a calm surface, like water... wonderful! :o)
ReplyDeleteThe colors in this remind me of an original William Morris print in Beatrix Potter's bedroom at Hill Top. But infused with gold . . .
ReplyDeleteI didn't see the woman's face until my third look. In fact, each time I look at this more separate patterns/shapes seem to emerge. The beautiful wash of color impresses me first.
